Re: [BellevilleRunningClub] Get Up & Go 30-Day Challenge “Kick-off” Event - 3/28/09 - 10:30am - 1:30pm

This sounds like fun! I hope to come for a bit however I am running at Mckendree and also have a volunteer commitment at noon. So more incentive to run FAST!

I also hope to make it to some of the run soon. Have a great time!

As you may recall from last year, the Belleville Running Club was a participating member in St Clair County's Get Up & Go Fitness Challenge.

Guess what?  It's that time of year again and it all starts off with the 30-Day Challenge "Kick-off" Event this weekend.  The Kick Off Event this Saturday (3/28/09) goes from 10:30am – 1:30pm in SWIC's main gymnasium and the BRC will have a booth at this event.

We need volunteers for our booth.  Please send me an e-mail at danieltrapp@ yahoo.com to let me know if you can volunteer to set up, man the booth for part of that time, or clean up.

Here's a little more background information.  The fitness challenge is a 30 day challenge that formally begins on March 27th.  Our goal last year was to help motivate people to take up running by helping them train for their first race (or their first race in a long time). "

Get Up & Go is a Health and Fitness Challenge for Communities, Groups and Organizations of St. Clair County, Illinois

Thanks,
Dan

Get Up & Go - 2009 Fitness Challenge

St Clair County's Get Up & Go Fitness Challenge formally begins on March 27th and lasts for 30 days.  The Belleville Running Club will have two goals this year for the challenge:

Goal #1 is to help motivate people to take up running by helping them train for their first race (or their first race in a long time).  We hope that each of our members can help someone new make their running debut at either the Law Day Run on May 2nd or the Belleville West Race for Character on May 9th.

Goal #2 is to accumulate up 1,000 total miles during our group runs. Since there are quite a few races during that time period, we will not only count the formal group runs, but also the miles from any run in which 3 or more BRC members participate.  We will have a sign-in sheet at the normal Thursday and Saturday runs, but we ask that you e-mail the details of any other miles to brc@bellevillerunningclub.com.

We will begin meeting next Monday for the 1st of our training runs at the track at Belleville East (we will gather at Commerce Bank's parking lot).

To everyone out there who is an experienced runner: Start encouraging your friends who have been talking about taking up running to train with us and make the Law Day Run or Race for Character their 1st 5k.
