Attached is a flyer for the Opening Ceremony for the new section of the bike trail on August 18th.

MetroBikeLink Bridge & Trail Extension To Swansea MetroLink Station

MetroBikeLink Trail
North End Park to Swansea MetroLink Station
Owner - St. Clair County Transit District
Length: 8/10ths of a mile
4.7 miles Swansea Station to SWIC
2.8 miles Swansea Station to South Side Park via City of Belleville Richland Creek Greenway Trail
Width: 10 foot asphalt with 2 ft shoulders
Four Significant Bridges:
Over Richland Creek & Norfolk / Southern Railroad 3 span steel girder, 240' long
Over IL Rt. 159 3 span steel girder, 240' long
Two bridges over Swansea Creek Single span, pre-engineered, each 90' long
Richland Creek Bikeway Spur (Phase IIA)
Owner - Village of Swansea
Length: 4/10ths of a mile
When the final phase of this trail is completed in 2012, the total length will be 1.7 miles between MetroBikeLink and Old Collinsville Road, and potentially allow for the continued extension towards Shiloh and O'Fallon.
Future Enhancements
Swansea Station to Memorial Hospital MetroLink
Station
2.2 mile trail extension with grade separation bridge over Fullerton Road. Includes drinking fountains at Swansea & Memorial stations. Under construction. Should be completed Summer 2012.
MetroBikeLink Trail Bridge at Green Mount Road
New embankment and grade separation bridge over Green Mount Road on the existing trail near Southwestern Illinois College. In design. Planned for 2012-2013 construction.
SWIC Green Campus Initiative
A green campus initiative to create a more walkable campus, including a new loop trail off MetroBikeLink and around the campus perimeter.
SWIC Station to Scott AFB MetroLink Station
Proposed 3.5 mile trail extension.
Memorial Hospital Station to Fairview Heights
Station
Proposed 3.5 mile trail extension.
Additional Connecting Trails to MetroBikeLink
In construction, design or initial planning. Would further connect shorter, "local" trails of Belleville, Swansea & Fairview Heights to the "backbone" of the St. Clair County trail system.
